Due to the extremely mild climate that prevails in this region, the most exotic plant species grow here. The Trsteno Arboretum, located on the coast about 18 km northwest of the town of Dubrovnik, is a unique cultural and natural heritage site and offers visitors the country's oldest collection of exotic trees and plants on 25 hectares of historical park.
In addition to the natural beauties, the local gastronomy also offers many specialties in the very south of Croatia. Traditional delicacies such as "Arancini" are prepared from local oranges. These are candied orange peels that can be found in many places. Another delight is the Dubrovnik Rozata. This is a cream made from flour, milk and eggs, served cold with caramel syrup. Nowadays rum is often added as a special extra.
